On 12 and 13 March 2026, the eight partner organisations of the TRAFFICKING Erasmus+ project gathered in Rome for the project’s kick-off meeting. Hosted by FILEF Basilicata at Via Luigi Luzzatti 13/A, the two-day session opened the operational phase of a 26-month European cooperation focused on defining a common professional profile in anti-trafficking work.
The meeting brought together representatives from all six partner countries: Italy, Norway, Belgium, Serbia, Turkey and Greece. Several partners participated via Zoom, reflecting the transnational reach of a consortium that spans from Oslo to Athens.
Setting the framework
Day 1 opened with presentations from each organisation on their national context and expectations for the project. OMNIS then introduced the methodological framework: a competence-based approach that will structure the Joint Training Programme at the core of WP3.
The afternoon moved into the project’s research dimension. SIULP Perugia led the first discussion on the comparative survey, which will map legal frameworks and professional practices in all six partner countries. The Smile of the Child and OMNIS presented an initial proposal for the Dictionary of Competencies — the conceptual foundation on which the training curriculum will be built. EUROMASC introduced the Skillscourses and Canvas platforms that will host the digital training modules.
The Steering Committee was formally constituted. The project’s work plan was revised to reflect the effective start date of March 2026, shifting the delivery timeline for all outputs accordingly.
Management and communications
Day 2 focused on governance and dissemination. FILEF walked partners through the Cooperation Agreement, financial reporting procedures and the Quality Assurance and Risk Assessment plan developed by EUROMASC.
Humanae Opes Foundation led the communication and dissemination session: the project website, EU web tools, newsletter strategy and social media plan were presented as part of WP4’s framework for reaching practitioners, policy-makers and the general public across Europe.
Next milestone
The meeting concluded with the definition of the remaining transnational dates and the Joint Staff Training in Athens, to be hosted by The Smile of the Child in June 2026. That event will open the field phase of the comparative survey and begin the collaborative design of the training curriculum.
